ROSSINI, PARRY and IRELAND
Chandos Choir has a lovely concert for you, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle (Small Solemn Mass)!
It's a serious religious work with the most delightful touches from a man who remained a theatrical composer to the end. The Mass was conceived on a small scale, with just two pianos (one of them used sparingly) plus a harmonium accompanying the four soloists and a four-part choir.
We will also be singing 'There Is An Old Belief', 'My Soul There Is A Country' by Hubert Parry and 'Greater Love Hath No Man' by John Ireland to commemorate the Centenary of the Armistice.
