Choral and Keyboard 2019
This concert features choral and keyboard music from the late 16th to the early 20th century.
We open with two choral pieces Come Jolly Swains (c.1611), Ave Verum Corpus (c.1605) followed by his keyboard work My Lady Neville’s Ground (c.1591); the beautiful Mass for 4 voices (c.1592-3) completes the segment.
Moving on to the 19th century we then perform Geistliches Lied (c.1856) and two Motets Op.74/1 and 2 (c.1877/1863).
The concert is completed by three Russian choral works;
Rachmaninov’s Ave Maria (c.1915)
Tchaikovsky’s Hymn to the Virgin (c.1885)
Arensky’s Lord’s Prayer
Followed by an exciting piano arrangement of Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.2, 3rd movement (c.1906).
