A Ceremony of Carols
EXCITING NEWS - A HARP!
Chandos Choir is delighted to announce that we will have a real live harpist to perform A Ceremony of Carols with! This is the way the piece was intended, and it will sound amazing. Introducing: Holly Lowe!
St Peter's Church Hall, Rectory Lane, Woodmansterne, Banstead Surrey SM7 3JH.
To commemorate 100 years since Benjamin Britten's birth the Chandos Choir brings one of his most accessible and well-liked pieces to the local area: the cycle of Christmas songs called A Ceremony Of Carols.
As well as a lovely mixture of carols for the audience to join in, we will also be providing some nibbles, mince pies, wine and fruit juice.
There will also be a bucket collection for MACMILLAN CANCER CARE so bring some extra cash!
Holly started studying the harp at the age of 8 under the tuition of Iona Evans. In 1997 Holly gained a place at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior Department where she studied piano, organ and harp the latter with Eira Lyn-Jones and Professor David Watkins. While studying at the RNCM Junior Department Holly played for the Duke of Westminster at his private Chapel in aid of Cancer Research, was appointed personal harpist to the Mayor of Chester and also became principal harpist for the newly formed Halle Youth Orchestra which performed regularly at the Bridgewater Hall under the baton of Edward Gardner. During the year 2003/4 Holly was accepted to study part time at the Franz Liszt Academie of Music in Budapest, studying with Andrea Vigh.
